Foreword
Welcome to the Autumn 2007 edition of the Directory of Care Providers for
Leicestershire, Leicester City, and Rutland.
This supplement is now in it's ninth year of publication and is produced by the
trade association East Midlands CARE in conjunction with Leicestershire County Council, Leicester City
Council, Rutland County Council, Leicestershire Domiciliary Care Providers
Association, Leicester Forum of Voluntary Providers and the Leicester Mercury.
Information on registration details is supplied by the Commission for Social
Care Inspection [CSCI], and further information is available about registered
services at www.csci.org.uk.
From time to time, care services hit national headlines with terrible stories of
malpractice and poor care, but you should be assured that the vast majority of
registered providers, across all sectors provide an excellent level of care. I
am pleased to say that this region has a significantly higher than average
number of services which meet all CSCI required standards. We hope the
guidelines in this Directory will help towards finding the best possible
provider for your needs. Further guidance is also readily available and
information on these sources can be found in the section "Where to get
Advice".
This year has seen the implementation of the Mental Capacity Act which brings in
extensive changes in legislation to protect people who are unable to make
decisions for themselves. We have included a brief section explaining the
fundamentals and legal requirements.
More detailed information relating to some care providers can be found in the
advertisements at the back of the publication. East Midlands CARE is grateful to
all those advertisers who have supported us and made this guide possible.
